I took a break from zines tonight.
I’ve been poking around micro.blog and looking at sites hosted there. I’m digging around in blog posts to read how people use micro.blog (or a similar platform) versus a standard blog.
What I think will make sense for me is to have a microblog as a companion to this site. A platform that’s easier to post to from my phone, since that’s the device I usually have with me during the day.
Microblogs are faster, easier to update on the fly. Phone typing.
I see microblog posts as collecting thoughts and observations, short posts, and media consumption. And maybe that info stays as it is on a microblog. Maybe some of it builds into blog posts here or newsletter content.
Microblogging as a capture method.
Microblogging as a workflow that leads to other things. That makes a lot of sense to me.
But.
But I have zine projects in progress and the day job is pretty busy right now. I really don’t need a new website project at the moment. No matter how excited I am to jump in. 😅
So I’m putting training wheels on. I already have a Mythical Type tumblr. That’s usually only zine posts, but I’ll try microblogging there for a month. Proof of concept. Then I’ll know if microblogging is useful to me in the ways I hope. And then I’ll consider starting on micro.blog.
